Today I had some time to rough turn a chestnut bowl. It has to dry for a few months and then I can do the final turning and finish. Here are some photos of the turning in progress.

Finally got the black walnut tree removed and started processing it for bowl blanks. Some of the wood is so beautiful. The piece below has so many different colors and a bird’s face with a long beak. This will make an amazing bowl.

Yesterday I acquired this large black walnut tree. I started processing it today and have a lot of work ahead of me. My vision for this tree is some bowls and many other turned items. Tomorrow I am going to try to cut some live edge slabs for possible table tops. Stop back and see my work in progress.

I started rough turning some sweet gum bowls. The wood is very wet so it needs turned to it’s rough size then allowed to dry to prevent warping or cracking. These bowls should be completed in a few months. These will be available for sale. If interested, please contact me to save your place in line.

Sweet gum is a popular ornamental tree is southeastern US. It produces hard spike fruit.

I like using various woods from domestic to exotic. Later this month I hope to turn some more domestic woods into bowls. Check back often.
